Anyone got any recommendations for car alarm installers in SE Melb?
Or any places I should steer clear of?

You could try Peter at 1st Class Auto Electrics. Have used him for other work before, his professionalism is second to none.

Had 2 alarms installed by Steves, both have worked very well. Did have  a problem with one once when out of warranty. He came out, checked a fuse replaced it and didn't charge me. That's good service. Have to say I looked at the fuse and it looked good. Didn't check it with a meter. It had a hairline crack in it so same you couldn't see. I should know better.  :-[ :-[ :-[
