Having lost my dearly beloved BIL to cancer just over 15 months ago at too young an age, and also 2 parents from cancer, I know how you must feel MAV. It is such a hard journey for all involved. But more so for Rennae.

My thoughts and prayers are with you specially over the next few weeks.

I've never posted in this this thread, but followed it closely. My dad had pancreatic cancer and passed yesterday. As I suffer PTSD and depression, things posted by members here have been a big help over the last 12 months. Whether it be a link to a website or something written. While I have never met anybody this forum (I don't think I have), I feel the fellowship offered is something to be proud. I've written this to say thankyou, not for any other reasons. Again, thanks to those who a have posted and to maverick01 for having the courage to start this thread.

Paul, my condolences on the loss of your father.  Celebrate his life and try not to dwell on his departure.  Stay strong and remain positive.

Thank you so much for the up date Vicki, and could you relay  my best wishes, thoughts and prayers to both Ranae and Greg. This post is a bit late,as since my last post on the 4th of Feb, I have had to lay my M I L to rest.
I know precisely what Greg and Ranae are going through, only I`ve had it twice in less than 3 months.
The only advice I can give to them both is to make Ranae as comfortable and pain free as possible.
They are the only ones who can make the extremely difficult decisions. My wife was doubled up in agony 24-7  but was determined to see Christmas through with the grand kids, which she did , then came the hardest decision we were ever going to make in our lives, which was to go into Hospis  care. To see my wife pain free and comfortable for the 11 days she was there gave me some respite from my ever decaying world at that time.
As I said before, if they want some one to talk to I`m available 24-7,just pm me.
It`s so good to see total strangers rally together and just be there for each other, great stuff
Thoughts and prayers to you all.

G`day Foo, and all swagers.
They have been very difficult times, but there is light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak).
The help and support I received from my kids and close friends was (is) amassing, also the doctors ,nursing staff, at all the hospitals and clinics were great. I had to deal with the Coroner in Tas and also the police (just routine) and again all were so helpful and understanding.
This is the reason for talking to all of these people and be very honest with yourself, wife, partner, kids and all in involved.
At some stage in our lives most of us have to face the inevitable and how we do it is up to us alone, but with support and accepting help we can and do carry on.
Its also the little things that help, the kind and caring words words written by people we have never met and  most likely never will, it all helps.
As for Greg and Ranae I can only send my thoughts and prayers, and hope these are strong enough for a good out come.

I thought it was time to update this post.

As everyone is aware Ranae has been suffering from cancer for the past 2.5 years.

Ranae was admitted into palliative care roughly 5 weeks ago and has unfortunately deteriorated slowly over the 5 week period. I received a phone call 5/6/2016 at 6:20pm stating that Ranae's breathing had changed dramatically today.

Unfortunately Ranae lost her battle with cancer today 6/5/2016 at 1:25am. Thankfully i was able to be by her side and held her hand as she took her last breath
