Spreader Poles/Bars?
« on: December 17, 2010, 03:02:53 PM »
G'ady all,
Can anyone suggest where (preferably in SE Melb!) to buy spreader poles with the plastic 'C' clip type ends (not the ones with the ends that are squashed flat and a hole punched in them).
I've tried the big chain stores (Anaconda, Rays, BCF), and also CARAC and Award RV, with no luck.  The last two places sell the clips, but not assembled. BIZARRE.
Although, I may have to resort to this and just hacksaw the ends off the squashed type ones to fit them.  Not that hard but would be a lot easier to just buy the damn things.

I haven’t been able to get any locally either, so I am buying the c clip with the correct sizes and just cutting tent poles down. I brought the ends I wanted of this mob.

I have a couple of spreader poles that as you needed a C fittint on the end . Couldnt buy what I wanted    so , I used a jig saw & a file on a white plastic chopping  board . Cut a letter Y the bottom of the Y goes inside the shaft , then sculpt the C on top of the Y  You can make the cup of the C as tight as you need ,,, You with me . Worked for me , cheap, strong & you made it uourself

Ok so I feel a bit guilty for not using the search button...

Anyway ,cheers for the link Rich.  I've since found a place called Van Cruiser down in Carrum Downs that has the clips, so I'll be going down that track and modding up my own.

Thanks all for ideas,  "luv yous all" :cup: especially Wil for the offer to be my courier service (wanna get them done this weekend though).  And Speewa, don't think the missus would appreciate me chopping up the chopping board, but like your lateral thinking.
