Intro
« on: August 04, 2015, 04:46:57 PM »
So I've been reading threads here for a while and thought I should join (long time listener, first time caller).

We currently have a largish tent setup (2x kids) and have been camping for the last 10 or so years from Noosa Northshore in the north to Delicate Nobby (Crescent Head) in the south and a lot of places in between.

We're looking to move to a camper trailer but (as everyone here will attest I'm sure) money is the issue. We'll get one, it's just a matter of time. Maybe we need to get smashed (again) in a storm so the missus elevates the priority  ;D

Below is a typical setup for us (this was at Bigriggen, great spot).

Welcome Onion,

Hey nothing wrong with a good tent setup,
We all started there.
As long as you are out there camping that's all that matters.
Enjoy,

Rob

Welcome to myswag Onion.  Great to see you out there enjoying this great country of ours.  We too were tent users for many years but now enjoy the convenience of a CT.  There is a CT out there with your name on it  ;D

Happy camping

Thanks RC and KB. I'm thinking a second hand aussie built CT for around $10-12k would be right up my alley. The missus saw the "those that shall not be named" at the Brissy CV and CT expo a couple of months back (the model that comes after charlie) and really likes the look of them. We'll see what happens.

Welcome and good luck on selling the idea to the better half.
Seems you are going to have an easy time as she already enjoys camping.
Hope to see some good news and pictures when you find your dream camper

If you happen to go to camping at Rainbow Beach when the Myswag National meet is on the wifey gets to see all the set ups and having a camper is 'normal' .
All the best with your choice.

Welcome :) We just recently upgraded from a tent setup, while there's nothing wrong with it we were really wanting a camper trailer for some added comfort. We purchased our camper trailer on a small budget and have made some minor modifications our self. It may not be the best brand or be all shiny new but we love it and it's pretty cool for what we could afford :) It's not about having all the bells and whistles and most expensive car & camper out there, it's about the experiences you have, friendships you make and the lasting memories with those you care about most :)

Hey Onion welcome to the forum. I can give you a beauty of a tip, "forget" to pack the tent for a trip and I will guarantee your wife will be convinced. Worked for me, the down side is she won't let you, or anyone else that will listen, forget it in a hurry.
We started at the cheap end of the market 5yrs ago and have been, seen and done heaps. More than we ever would have with the tent arrangement. We are now in the process of upgrading we have enjoyed it so much.

Lemo.

Welcome Onion,

You will find a lot of info here.

If you ever need a hand just let us know and someone would be more than willing to help.

You are on the money for a great Aussie made camper at that price, second hand or brand new.

Just remember we love pics, lots and lots of  pics.

Welcome to My Swag Onion..... great tent set up you have.  Reminded me of some of our early adventures and the fun of the tenting life....  we will still probably take the tent and camping gear when we venture to Tasmania again....
Lots of great info and advice on this forum so good choice .
Cheers
