Hello from Sydney
« on: October 22, 2014, 06:08:15 PM »
Hello All,

Just joined myswag.
Been tent camping for the last few years but now looking at a camper trailer.
Been after one for a while but a new bub put paid to any spending. She's nearly 1 now so looking to get a camper trailer and get back to the camping again.
I apologise in advance for the barrage of questions I'll probably inflict on everyone as we get closer to buying one.

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks for the welcome guys.
This forum certainly has a reputation for being a wealth of knowledge so hopefully I can tap into that and maybe one contribute to it.
Never having owned a camper trailer I'm aware of how much I don't know at this stage so I think I've got a fair bit of reading to do!

Thanks again guys.

I have to say that I'm getting very jealous after reading so many posts about people's camper trailers and where they've been.
I certainly need to pull my finger out, decide which one to get and get it ordered.......and then get some work done to try and pay for it!

Well, we finally bit the bullet and put down a deposit on a CT.
I've been talking about getting one for so long now that to be finally signing on the dotted line was quite nerve wracking.

In the end we went for the Cub Supamatic with a few options.
We did look at forward folds as I like the idea but I wasn't convinced on the build quality of the more affordable ones. Let say the level of finish on many of visible areas just didn't inspire confidence.
In then end decide a rear fold was the go and liked the Supamatic for the little bit of extra room it gives in the camper.
Cub had a limited edition build at the Eastern Creek 4WD show and it seemed to tick most of the boxes for what we were looking for so we added a few more bits and pieces and then lightened up the wallet a bit.

It'll take a few months to build but that's OK as I'll need a few months to work out how I'm going to pay for it. Can't wait to get it though, and more importantly start using it.

Got a few things to do to keep me busy in the mean time.......got to get the car sorted for towing for one. I've got airbags to go in the rear, I need to get an electronic brake controller and an anderson plug fitted, and I'll maybe look at a dual battery system as well.

Thanks Jeepers Creepers,
Would love to go but it's a fair drive from here.
I'm think of taking a few weeks of with the camper towards the end of the year though so perhaps we can manage to coincide with the National Meet.
Will have to work on that.

Of course I've got to get the camper first!
