G'Day All,
Hope someone can offer up a suggestion on what to do with this old copper pot.
I am thinking of using it for a home firepit and suggestions on how would be appreciated.
It is about 35cm high and od about 65cm.
I think it is ex girl guides. it used to sit in the top of a 44 gallon drum fire to heat water for camps
-
If it is copper, hot coals will wreck it. The water in it kept the temp under 100 deg when being used as a pot.
You need to either catch some crabs and cook them up, do some washing old school or give it to me.
-
It's copper and they are collectable and worth reasonable money.
Someone would love to have it on their veranda with something growing out of it
Points against are that its melting point is 1000deg, so will get a bit relaxed with a wood fire, might no melt, but will get annealed and go very soft when it cools.
I'd* sell it and use the $$ to get an old truck brake drum and a flat pack fire pit.
*I'd actually put it on my veranda and grow something in it.
-
Don't burn in copper...its poisonous...you will end up sick and it will melt/burn once you crank it. Indirect heat wont bother it though.

Vaiid, valuable and valued comments thanks Speewa158.
Do you accept paypal as i would like to be able to return my PDFP should it not be of sufficient standard to meet my needs and paypal offers me some degree of protection.
Also is there a discount for purchase of multiple PDFP's as I would need to be able to site them in varied locations due to prevailing weather conditions.
Unfortunately i haven't been able to locate any reviews of your PDFP's can you supply some reference customers

Here we go again, the snake oil salesman, all we need is that McGirr joker to show up with his Rainaway 2000 and we will be set. ;D
GG

I thought McGirr sold out, he might by now have a newer model though. ;D

Dot paintings, anyone?

Only if they are good painting Geoff.

Maybe admin needs to move this to either
a) The scammers or
B) Have you found a bargain.
-
All good garryc, as to your old pot, I would think it would be worth more to a collector.
When I was a kid that is what Mum did her clothes with, my Grandmother also had one.

C) Another 1/2 wit that's been locked up in his shed with beers for tooo long
So do you have a PDFP size in mind ? Usually there standard size is 8 chairs ( + 2 extra ) Could you provide the soil type as this will have bearing on costing of constructions . Looking forward to your Early Response as orders are building . The PDFP is not just another hole in the ground , it something to behold .

garryc after you have called you confidents fake & charlatan what question are coming to mind Re PDFP ? As you are very astute you can not be described as unsuspecting newbies but l have in the past discussed PDFPs with Old Swaggers as well .
As to your question of the validity of the PDFP pics , there cannot be . All you would see is the red glow of the coals of a really good camp fire , ideal for camp oven cooking . Not :worthless : Priceless . Sniffing Camp Smoke from a PDFP Bliss

WTF?
Booming sales of fire pits are spooking Australian authorities who want to crash backyard parties.
One state has already demanded fire pit owners apply for a permit before they strike a match, other municipal councils are following suit.

But the one state saying you need a permit also say no permit req for cooking.
Everyone using a fire pit at home uses it for cooking…don’t they ? ;D
-
FMD.. how many backyard fire pits would it take to equal one small bushfire, for smoke output... 'ken pointless..

You haven’t met my neighbor then….. ;)

You have to have a permit for a fire pit, & the neighbours whinge about it, but nobody says a word about the highway just over there, with 100000 cars, buses, trucks & semi's a day driving to & fro, ll belching out exhaust fumes ... ::)
-
Hi,
Tas local regs prohibit incinerators but allow BBQs or a fire for warmth, heating water or cooking.
I can see the need for stricter regs in sardine suburbs.
Cheers

A cheap option, well it cost me zilch, is to get an old water pump, pressure tank from a pump shop. My local bloke was only too keen to give me a couple, as he has to pay to dump them.
I just cut the tank at the height I wanted and bolted the inverted top to the base of the main tank. This keeps an amazing amount of heat off the ground.
I did a bit of art work on the larger tank as my wife said it was bland.
The smaller one packs away pretty well and we use it for a camp barbie, occasionally. Plate is an old plough disc.

And what about cold, foggy, still winter nights, when you go outside and can hardly breathe, due to all the neighbours with over damped, poorly burning wood fires. The tar is virtually floating around in droplets...
