Victoria National Parks Help Please
« on: January 25, 2012, 01:41:12 PM »
Need help trying to work out how to use their web site? wanting to find camping grounds and what it cost to camp in them. It is probably me but I am finding it hard to get this simple information. Qld (DERM) web site is dead easy, NSW not to bad, but Vic, like I have been looking at Great Otway NP, one camp ground is high lighted but the rest are not, anyway some one from Vic able to help out an old (computer eliterate) fart  ;D

Can't answer your question positively I'm afraid, but I read recently that the Mexicans Victorians are a bit shy about publishing their prices on their National Parks website, so I don't think it's you.

Certainly found thru my own research that most other states' NP websites are a lot more user friendly than the one published by our droopy mustachioed brethren.

You might have to get on the old dog and bone....

Isuzum the website is crap, no doubt about it. I tried book a couple of camp sites at lake Eildon for Easter and it took me ages so I just rang them on 131963. You can talk to someone and they will do the on line booking for you over the phone and you need a credit card.

Some of the National parks actually dont have any accomodation and I think that the Great Otway is one of them. The booking website address is http://www.parkstay.vic.gov.au/accommodation.asp

I have always found it a problem and if your IT skills arent that great, would suggest you call them up.

As steveheng says, its a crapper, not you!.  The spatial imagery map  they put up with every page just clags the thing up.

I agree their website is crap, but SA's is no better!

I did phone them as we wanted to spend a night at Little Desert NP on the way to Bendigo.  It cost us $14 for the family and there was an honour box there for us to fill in our details and pay our money.  I'm not sure if every park is the same or not though.
