All 4 Adventure "Unleashed TV"
« on: February 19, 2016, 02:57:05 PM »

Interesting new concept from the guys.

I did not mind watching their shows for free on TV but their last Cape York one was boring.

But I cannot see value in their subscription prices. Especially $129 for a DVD  ???

Considering most syndicated streaming subscriptions are around $10/month, that's a premium price for a couple of blokes in the bush with GoPros...

It's not cheap by a long shot, that's for sure.

But the Roothy and Pat in the Hat DVD's are all around $10-$14 each... times that by 8 and it's not sooooo bad.

Though watching it on free to air is considerably cheaper...

I see the boys have finally made it public that Simon is driving a D Max this year and towing a AUS RV caravan. Seems to be quite some changes for them, including the fact TJM pulled thier sponsorship aswell. Will be interesting to see where their travels take them, because what I heard was, TJM pulled the sponsorship when the boys couldn't give them future trip plans.

interesting about TJM.

when the Dmax/AUS RV news broke they coped a lot of Shit on social media too.

Up until now, they were one of the only shows left that used whatever vehicle they felt was "best for the job". Not dictated by a sponsor. (cue Pat in the Hat - Patrol/VW)

Now... they're just another rolling promotional effort...

It will be interesting to see where they go next.

D-max might be a great vehicle but it is sad to see these guys go for something that clearly (even to Isuzu, I'm sure) isn't the right vehicle for them.

Is there a gvm upgrade for a d-max?  (Answer: ARB do one for 3220kg but is that enough...)
Can it realistically tow the massive trailers and boast they take?

Well it could make things interesting...

looks like Simon will only be towing the AUS RV caravan now, so no need for the gvm upgrade.

Looking for more viewers? As much as I love it how they go where noone else goes and its a challenge and the spots are beautiful and untouched, lets be honest noone else will go there.
The fact its a business for them means they need a bigger audience, and they'll probbably have to start going to all the other places that every other 4wd show has gone to and done to death soon.

Hi All, Yes I to Loved there show and being they were from were I lived around Cooroy, and I know both of them it was good on free to air but I will not pay to see there shows, They properly got sick of paying for there 4wds and wrecking them on there trips, I was told them converted 200 series to daul cabs cost around $250 grand each with the gear they have on them, So they can wreck someones 4wd and not care, But it really annoyed me when they were allowed to drive on the beach north of Captain Billiys landing. I use to camp there and drive up the beach was great, before NPs took over in the 90s then the beach was closed off to 4wds. Craig

Very much doubt that unleashed will make main stream TV. Was given season 1 as a gift (would I pay for the DVD set..........nah) and they go out in this hilux monstrosity with 46" tyres that can't turn full lock, shoot pigs, create their own tracks over saplings and trees and generally have total disregard for anything and everyone but themselves, yes most appears filmed on private property or aboriginal lands up the cape, but still, the tree hugging loonies would have an absolute field day.............

To my knowledge they are continuing with the fta stuff. The unleashed is for the people who would buy action 4X4 just for the DVDs.

I'd love to see a genuine show that shows people what's involved in planning trips, through permits, locations, the lot and not catering like most holiday/travel shows on TV - where they go to the $5000 a night places that .0000000000000000001% of the planet can afford to go to - but places real people want to go to... Many people have no idea how to plan for the Cape for example. We are lucky here in the forum world where we have McGirr, and others who know it backwards.

It would need sponsorship - so keep it to the commercial breaks not the Pat bullShit 'only the amarok can conquer this carpark kerb without damage.

Even if it was a DVD series alone... I reckon theres a massive hole in the market waiting for someone to fill it.
