Title: Movie Projector for the kids
Post by: jmorgan1981 on November 17, 2017, 05:25:20 PM
Hi

I am interested to see if anyone has bought one of the 12V mini movie projectors and used it camping.

I am thinking of grabbing one off ebay (less then $100).

Any experiences would be great.

A coworker has a  $40 JAYCAR one that they take camping [ No longer available ] only a $199 version .
They just screen it onto the side of the camper, uses bugger all power and reckon that it throws a reasonable picture  though the sound was a bit ordinary, from memory they improved the sound with a USB type speaker bass booster thingo .
For what its worth we use a 24 cm 12V  TV and external USB sticks / hard drive for movie nights / bad weather .

Further on the mini projector, Apparently you can get a better quality picture etc if you adjust all the sharpness / contrast type settings from  the default settings .

Regarding the BCF one .. Got one as a  Christmas gift .. Would be better off to use some pictures drawn on cellophane in front of a torch ..
Terrible picture quality etc no matter what setting is used everything has a purplish washed out color to it  ...
MY ADVICE DO NOT BUY  .. Very disappointed . IT IS GARBAGE .
Bite the bullet and get a 24" 12 V TV, or a Higher quality projector that would run on 12V or  an inverter ...  You can thank me later .
Oh and the one we got  was $99 .. Going to see about returning it .

No Idea if it any good but has reasonable reviews

For what its worth .. I wouldnt bother with a built in DVD player, Had them stuff up ...  With the TV we use USB sticks  and 1TB external hard drive or take a little portable  9" DVD player and leads, means an extra power hook up though ..
We  Just have a HD 8m power cable from the TV  to the camper or truck with an Ando plug to the Aux power [ Never had any trouble just using  a HD truck / farm type N70Z type battery to power it watching a few of movies ] on wet days etc ..
Looking at making a light frame to hang it outside or stand it inside instead of the screw on base ..
A light layer of Fibreglass over the original delivery cardboard  box makes for a solid protective case too .[ Yet to do this though ] .
