As mentioned, it is strongly recommended (would like to say mandatory) that you have good All Terrain Tyres in a Light Truck construction for this trip.
There are some sections that are the nice smooth bitumen, however other places are very corrugated, and a bit of sand and everything else chucked in as well.
When moving from bitumen to the dirt / corrugations it is recommended that tyre pressures be reduced, then of course pumped back up when back on the bitumen. This not only gives you a comfier ride, but also protects your tyres from staking (puncturing). It also looks after your vehicle as it won't be bouncing all over the place due to high tyre pressures.
There is a good guide as to what pressures are suitable for which terrain that would be a good idea to download and take with you here: http://cooper.etd.07.com.au/media/1400/cooper-drivers-guide-tyre-pressures.pdf (http://cooper.etd.07.com.au/media/1400/cooper-drivers-guide-tyre-pressures.pdf)
Also to be able to pump your tyres up again it is recommended that you have an air compressor of some sort (and two hoses so you can pump up your camper tyres too as these should be let down at the same time as your 4wd tyres). So you know how far to pump them up to - you'll need a reliable tyre gauge.
So in short: LT Tyres, Compressor, and Tyre Gauge.

Thanks for the info John :D
I may have asked this before, but just want to be sure: the tyres on my CT are a light truck construction, but the tread pattern is more HT than AT. My thinking is that as the trailer tyres dont provide any drive as such, then it isn't as important to have AT's on the trailer. Any thoughts on this?
Bridgestone 697's on the Paj, so all good there!
Cheers
Matt

If your camper tyres are LT construction then all is good - I wouldn't worry so much about the tread pattern.

Thanks mate. I was just envisioning Di's response if I told her we need new tyres for the trailer before we go...... >:( :'(
They have plenty of tread on them, so all good.

The most important thing is to have a kit which has everything you need in it with a couple of extras. Something like the ARB kit http://www.arb.com.au/products/general-accessories/tyre-accessories/ (http://www.arb.com.au/products/general-accessories/tyre-accessories/)

aahhh, well I would not have a clue how to use it, but I did google it last week and watched a clip :cup: I'm pretty sure that does not make me an expert yet until I have to actually use it!

agree, I'd only ever fixed bike tyre tubes before in my lifetime.
After 2 x punctures and using the Bushranger repair kit I bought, reckon it's easier than the bike tyres.
As long as you can find the puncture and it's not an inch long:-)
