Fishing charters - Weipa and the Cape
« on: February 23, 2014, 03:46:09 PM »
Hi Swaggers - we are a group that are heading to the cape in July - taking a month so have some time to fish - not going with the swaggers trip though watching what they are doing with interest.  What I want to find out is if anyone has recommendations or who to avoid for fishing charters out of Weipa and also while we are at the Cape.  We are a mixed group with a few kids who are also keen fisherman - 19 in all so probably can't afford the real expensive ones - there are 5 in my family alone!!

Would also love some of those secret fishing spots that everyone has in the Cape/Weipa area.

Thanks in advance.

Kim

Saw these guys http://www.cyfishingcharters.com.au/ on Mark Berg fishing yesterday. They look like a great charter out through Cape York.

My wife's nephew does charters out of Weipa
Josh has been a mad keen fisherman all his life and we reckon he could catch a barra on a bitumen road.
Don't know how much he charges because we've never had to pay  ;D
PM me if you would like me to find out more details

When I was working on the Mission River in Weipa, we'd play a game of who could catch a fish with the most pathetic "Rig".
Winner for multiple catches was a bent welding rod covered with yellow and red electrical tape on the end of 1/4" rope.
