Sorry, but population of Victoria is ~7 million, + tourists on top of that, so it's probably fair to say that there are at least 50 million lithium-ion "devices" in Victoria, with "most" of them being charged most days.

& they're causing 1 fire a day ???

Compared to how many candle, gas, fat, petrol, bush ... fires ???

Please forgive me if I don't get too concerned!

In the process of getting the van atm upgraded, the inspection place only found 3 things, chains were damaged and have to be replaced, which I can't do, new springs minimum 2200kg capacity so I got a kit, all new brackets, pins, hanging brackets, 10 leaf off road springs with a capacity of 2500kg's, didn't weigh them but fluck me ,those things are heavyy.
Things get just a bit harder to do whan you get to 77
Any got 1 side done, just to grease them, wait until Monday to recover and then start on the other side  ;D

1st side all done and greased  2nd side started, spring removed all ready to install new 1 tomorrow.
Learnt a lot from the 1st side, knew where the welds were hidden and cut them off quickly, what took 4 hours the 1st side took about 11/2  :cup:
Setting up the jacks and stands and checking everything for safety took longer than removing the spring, I didn't want to make the news.

They are  still flucking heavy  :D

I still reckon this is the way to go....

https://www.drive.com.au/news/new-chery-hybrid-suv-can-drive-from-sydney-to-adelaide-on-one-tank/

Basically just an elec vehicle with a built in ICE generator. The ICE engine can be tuned perfectly for one job rather than having to provide power/torque over a wide rev range. Short trips are completely elec driven and (hopefully) plug it in at home to only charge a small battery

What's everyone's thoughts - should we shoot for a 2025 National Meet?
I think it would depend on bodies to put it together... Maybe aiming for next year would give more time for a team to put things together

maybe wack up a poll

Remember what ever the decision there will be support.

Sorry for the absence Swaggers.

It's a bit of a tough time for a lot of people at the moment between one thing and another.

Brett and I currently don't have a CT or caravan but that wouldn't stop us attending a National Meet in one way or another.

Question: are the lithium batteries used in these scooters/fire starters etc made differently from the ones used by campers and caravans or for the house??

Victorian fire authorities say they're responding to almost one lithium-ion battery fire every day.

Commander Eckholdt said lithium-ion batteries were a growing concern for fire services, who are responding to almost one fire per day caused by lithium-ion batteries.
"What we are finding is that a lot of people are charging devices while they're asleep — phones, computers, scooters, that type of thing," he said.

There is a difference between lithium ION and lithium IRON but this seems to get lost in most media crap.

Well so much for the initial taxpayer slushfunding down the gurgler-

https://www.msn.com/en-au/money/news/australian-ev-charging-manufacturer-tritium-goes-into-administration/ar-AA1nhfqX
and with Qenos closing down there won't be any chance of local polymer for the backsheets of our new 'superpower' solar panels
https://www.skynews.com.au/business/qenos-a-strategically-important-plastics-manufacturer-collapses-into-administration/video/9894b01cbaefb55a67107b543f718803

Time for the Canberra brains trust to fire up the old Holden plant to produce battery Cruzes methinks. Not to worry it's only helicopter money like the covid money still washing through the economy and bobbing up with those supermarket prices and everything else.
