We could be another late addition. If the cooks health improves we are plannimg on doing our Old Ghan and Old Andodo trip around that time.
Will be able to include the National Trip on the way up. Should know in a week or 2 if that is not to late.

We have driven past Beautiful Valley CP 4 times in the past month, we always take this route when we travel to Newcastle from Alice Springs and back. I have clocked up 12000 kms in the past 4 weeks.

I always liked the look of the CP but have never stayed there, unfortunately I don't think we can make it to this event due to a lack of leave, I will be in Port Augusta tomorrow on my way to Adelaide but I will be back in Alice on Saturday. I am overnighting tonight in Coober Pedy.

My plans are changing.

Turns out our new baby does not like to travel. At. All. So the plan of taking the family on a gentle stroll down, checking out the sites along the way will have to be altered.

I am deadset keen, so my options are:
  • fly over, rent a car and swag it
  • drive over on my own, or with the oldest daughter, but still a rush trip
  • et someone with a company vehicle to "get their k's up"

Are you going to this Lindsay? We are going to be in the Wilmington area on the 1st of October as we are relocating to canberra and leaving Alice either on the 30th of September or the 1st of October. We are not sure yet if we will go via the Hay Plain or via Broken Hill. We will keep an eye out for all the myswagers and listen in on the UHF too

Hi Paul - no we are not going to the myswag meet, although we will be staying in the Barossa for a few days before going up to the Flinders then Lake Eyre and the Birdsville track. We were originally going to go, but have since decided that with all the water that is in Lake Eyre and the associated bird life etc etc that goes with it, it was to good an event to miss out on and who knows when it will happen again. We had to make a decision to go to either lake Eyre or the MySwag meet. Lake Eyre won!

For those like myself travelling up from Melbourne for the meet,
on the Friday I will cross from Vic into SA, move watch back half an hour.
Saturday with daylight savings move watch forward 1 hour.
Worse than International travel.

Trevor, just remember that although the watch goes back 1/2 an hour, the calender goes back 20 years when entering SA ;D

Although we would dearly love to attend I am afraid that it just would not be feasible for us as the car and trailer will be packed to the gunwales with everything we will need for the next few weeks in Canberra so there is no room for a tent or camping gear. We will listen in on the UHF for any voice traffic as we pass through on our way to Canberra.

We're hoping to hit the road early Friday and get to Bordertown if possible. Then should get to the meet by Sat arvo'. After the meet we're heading into the Flinders and then desert tracks, hopefully up to Uluru if time permits. Have a few weeks so we'll see.

Look forward to catching up and putting some faces to names. I think......

Cheers,

Look for a old fart driving an old white Landrover two door Defender.

Have just arrived back from a few weeks at depot springs station
the other side of Copley in the Flinders, after the meet will be going
to Yorke Peninsula for a few days then to Broken Hill from there back to
Depot springs for a while, Melbourne on the 27th Oct.
