My Last Trip..
« on: July 11, 2012, 08:55:07 PM »

It is with regret to say that this trip to the Cape was my last. I have been arranging trips on MySwag to the Cape and the Gulf for 4 years now and have decided to have an extended break for a couple of years.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who I have had the privilege to escort on these great trips. I have made some great friends and met some fantastic people who enjoy camping as much as me. I feel honored to take people who would not normally tackle the Cape by themselves but feel comfortable in traveling with other people. To see people travel long distances to come on these trips makes all the work and time in planning them worth while. It was also great to put faces to names.

To the members who have driven the support vehicles over the years, I could not have done these trips without you.......You guys made the trip. :cup:

I feel happy that in all the trips I have down I have never had any one hurt as the roads at the Cape can be dangerous. I hope the members who did accompany me on these trips will have great memories and who knows in the future I may consider doing another one. Again thanks for the support and assistance over the last 4 years and also special thanks to Brett for allowing me to run them as the MySwag Forum truly has fantastic people who enjoy camping as much as me.

Many, many thanks to everyone for the fantastic memories over the years.

Mark

Hi Mark
I don't know what to say to this. I have been on 2 trips with you. The first was with Yogi the second was with my family and I enjoyed both trips. All I can say is thank you for everything and we will hopefully be camping with you again in the future.

We've done 3 of the 4 trips ( all to the Cape ) and have to say it's been a blast  :cup: .................I would have never done the Cape alone but with someone to show us where to get fuel/water and supplies etc it was made sooo much easier.
Thanks Mark, your efforts have been greatly appreciated and I look forward to catching up in the future for a chat and a beer, it's rare these days to find someone who is willing to give so much and ask so little in return !!!!

I also wish to thank you, Mark for 2 great trips to the cape. Both trips were fun in different ways. The first being, learning the way. I had to rely completely on you for directions etc, while on the second I had a slight understanding of what to expect and was able to assist others in small ways.

There is no way I would have got there without you.

We will have to find an excuse to get together and have a few beers and a chat as JK has suggested. (Mark's fishing trips sound great).

I feel privileged to have been a part of it. I would never have made it past palm Creek without the support of everyone there.
Cheers Mark.

Mark    I was already suffering from Post Trip Depression but to here this news has made me feel sad. I really appreciate all that you have done to bring people together. Both Shaun and I will always have great memories of the 2 Cape Trips that we went on and totally thanks to your efforts. Hope to catch you for a beer and Im sure it wont be the last camping trip we will enjoy together. Regards Martin

Mark, we've done your last three trips and enjoyed every one of them immensely. Without you organising those trips we never would have thought to have gone across the Gulf or even attempted to go on the OTL. As well as the amazing places you took us, it was the opportunity to meet other people we now call friends. So when you come out of retirement we'll put ours names down for where ever you lead us to.

Hi Mark,

What can I say that has not already been said, except you were able to help me fulfil one of my fathers dreams. By you having your tip trips you made it possible fro me to take dad along last year and allow him to see the tip. For 70 years since he was ten years of age he had wanted to see the tip, and on his 80Th birthday we were able to make that happen. Thanks Mark from both myself and dad (Bill).

This years trip, (been one of the support crews) was in my way of thanks for you efforts.

cheers duggie

Mark, we went on this year's trip and had a wonderful time. We would never have tried such an adventure without your encouragement and we are extremely glad we made it. We greatly appreciated the effort you put into getting this trip organized. As one of the last to get home ( we are still in Cairns and have another 3 or 4 weeks to go before we are home ), we are able to reflect on a wonderful experience.

Once again, many thanks, Mark.

This might be a bit belated, but I also am saddened by this news.  I have been on 3 of your trips, all to the Cape.  The first one didn't quite work out for me due to blowing a clutch, but the second I had a blast, even though I broke my trailer.  The third was not quite as fun (probably because I didn't break something major) but I still had a great time, and would line up again if another trip were to happen.

You have taken on a great load on your shoulders in organising these things and you do so without complaint.  Bottoms up to you and whatever, and whenever you want to go on another trip you can count me in.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

Hey Mark,
Just wanted to acknowledge the massive effort you put into this years trip. I have been wanting to do the cape trip for 20 odd years, and can now tick it off as done. In the past I had probably been a little hesitant to tackle such a big trip with very limited knowledge of the area especialy in relation to fuel and camping availability., so taging along to gain some of your knowledge of the area was invaluable. Mark and myself had a brillant trip, in no small part to yourself and the other friends we met along the way. Thanks for all your efforts.  Pete
