Title: Hi from melbourne.
Post by: manchu on February 27, 2020, 12:02:13 AM
Well I’ve finally bit the bullet and bought a camper trailer (or is it a caravan?)  so I’ll be around here more than just the occasional classifieds browse so its time for an intro.

The new (old) camper is a 1999 jayco hawk outback, bought on a whim last week after years of contemplating.  Ive been holding off because I wasn’t confident of getting any trailer down our steep driveway then into into its storage spot.  The seller was local , the price was fair  and he offered to drop it off so I committed to buy if it fit,  which it just did.

The van is in decent shape for its age and should give us a nice upgrade from the tent.   Us being me, wife and our 3 boys (2.4.6yo) and maybe the dog.      Our use will be mix of free bush camping and caravan parks around vic mostly, and wherever else it takes us.

edit:  here's some more info on the new camper    http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=57036.0

Cheers
Chris

cheers.    my old man lived in Lakes for the last ~15yrs so I know the area well.    Not much of a fisherman unfortunately :(

I have a trip down there planned for the first anniversary of his passing in a few months and will definitely take the camper.   We had a Jayco swan growing up in the 80's and he was an avid grey nomad with bigger vans in retirement so he's been my sounding board over the last few years of camper shopping.   It's a shame he's not around to see the fruits of his advice.
