12v fridge
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:40:54 PM »
I am looking for a fridge for the back of the lifestyle, versus in the back of the car or on the front of the ct (trying to free up some space in the car and get the tow ball weight down).  60-80ltr (family of 6) with a height of only 440mm.  All suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Chris

Maybe have a look at the yellow evakool 70l (I think). if my memory serves me correctly that was one of the only fridges that would go close to fitting when I was thinking about doing the same with our lifestyle ct.

I don't think you will find much that slides under that rear bar across the trailer.... Specially on a slide and with a cover on it.. Maybe 2 smaller fridges?

I have the ARB 60L on a slide of similar height on a Johnnos camper. It just fits through with the canvas cover on.

Its a good fridge too.

note the following

 - if leaving fridge lid ajar when not in use, you probably can't slide it out with the lid still ajar
 - canvas cover takes some height too (about 5mm or so)
 - to open fridge lid fully (beyond vertical), you need to slide out the whole length of the fridge; make sure your slide is up to the task when the fridge is fullypacked and slide comes out such a long way
 - make sure you have provision for plugging in the fridge into 12V power near the slide, as its not easy to reach behind the fridge once its on the slide (just saying)
 - remember to consider some method to tie-down the fridge to the slide without warping the slide

cheers Bruce.  You work in Blackburn if I recall.  Not far from home.  Heading away over the next week so will drop you a line when we get back.

Cheers

Chris
