Looks like it would fit the bill perfect.

Check if the fuel rail has been replaced otherwise factor that into the purchase.

If it has been serviced in Port Lincoln by Lincoln then it will be spot on, Peter Owen is the mechanic there and he is a true Land Rover enthusiast, his father is the owner of Lincoln Land Rover, they have a very good reputation in the Port Lincoln area and have customers as far away as Melrose and Wilmington, give Lincoln Land Rover a call, I'm sure they will let you any issues with the car, Peter is a very nice bloke.

Hi Geoff, the tow capacity is 3500kgs... although as you suggested with the 1.5T swan I would probably just chug along :).. Mostly if I'm doing the CP thing I'll contonue towing with teh Kluger, the defender is for weekeknds away like we just went on at mitchells crossing.

Speewa, Its getting the once over by an independent LR specialist today... The dealer gave me the original owners phone number spent about an hour chatting last night.. he seems like he has spent alot of time looking after it, had done the cam belts etc on time and siad every reciept he has spent on it it in the glovebox. He also said he regulary gets underneath it and beleives theer is no rust anywhere.. always garaged and he lived about 100km inland form the coast, used on the farm and getting the kids driven around... did a trip up to the kimberly last year without a problem. Only reason for selling is he bought a BT50 diesel to pull his new 2.5T caravan.

Greg,

With all that, and if the inspection comes up good, it looks like you're onto a real winner....

Full inspection showed a slight oil leak in transfer case and box only. Everything else came up trumps. Quoted 1 k to take boxes out and do full seal kits.. Not bad I thought

If that's all that's needed after 14 years and 220k, it looks like it's all good. I reckon I'd go for it.

I'd throw a clutch (HD, if available) into it while the box is out, if it hasn't been done recently. Extra $$, but well spent.......
