Guess it depends on the size of your camp oven,
My father in law did a lamb roast in the camp oven on our last trip, basically covered the lid with heat beads, took about three hours to cook but she was a great feed, Not sure what stage he put the veges in though,

A trivot is a realy good addition to the camp oven especially when using coals out of a fire as they can be a lot hotter than heat beads. It will pretty much reduce any chance of burning to zip and give you a more even cook allround.

I reckon you are going to need 2 hours at least.
It will be good though.
A trivet or small cake rack on the bottom of the camp oven is recommended.
Bon appetit!

dont put the roast on the inside of the camp oven in the floor of it... have it off the ground inside on a trivet as recommended so air can circulate and it doesnt burn to poo.

Seeing how it's only small pce i would use 10 beads on both top and bottom
and put veges in after 30 mins
re-check after another 60 + minutes
I always use a trivet both inside the oven and under it!

Although i usually have 1 oven for meat & 1 for veg
and use the excess meat over the next few days
and the excess vegies for bubble & squeak  ;D :worthles:

enjoy your feed
cheers

How big an oven mate?

12"?

If so 15 on top , 9 underneath.

use the 3 up and 3 down formula for roasting.

Preheat oven for atleast 15 minutes.

Use a trivot and getthe lamb of the bottom.

Put the vegies and lamb in at same time and will take 1-1 and a quarter hours tops.

Two things

Dont put oven straight on heat beads. It will snuff them out. You need a air gap. 10-15cm.

Also as veg are going in with meat then grab a piece of wire (coat hanger size thickness) and jam that under the lid to let some steam escape. Otherwise your veg will be steamed more than roasted

Show ua your end result too bud

lamb is cooking nicely and the vegies are about to go in . the oven is only a 10 inch job . i would have liked a bigger one but as i said it was given to me and i can alway buy a bigger one as well , which im sure i will  ;D

the family next door is doing a pork roast and so we are going to get together and have a roast feast  :D

no pressure but they are using an conventional oven .... SLACKERS
