12v socket covers - where to get them?
« on: September 22, 2013, 09:52:27 AM »
Hi people,

Just wondering if anyone has ever been able to just get the rubber covers for their 12v sockets if they needed replacing?

I have one that just broke and wouldn't mind getting a few spare and other types (ie. merit sockets). If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Cheers

Hi StrvnMrvn
If it is the cover for the Merit (Hella) type sockets you are looking for then, 1. I have not seen anywhere you can get them even if available, and  2. you will still need to remove the whole socket to be able to slip the new cover on anyway so just replace the whole socket.
Just a thought.

Thanks John,

That's what I was thinking. I'll give ABR sidewinder a call tomorrow and see if they can supply just them. I've got a three socket (2xcig, 1xmerit) on the CT and a single flush mount cig socket on the portable battery box.

I've had the same problem and was never able to source just the cover. They're really only good for inside as outside the UV kills the rubber.

In my case at about the same time the rubber cover gives way the rear of the plug is about to separate from the rest of the plug as well. I just replace the lot.
