Jayco cupboard rejuvenation

Hello all,

We have just picked up our 06 Swan Outback, yeah, yeah, I know, and a couple of areas make us think that it has had a bit of a hard life. 

The cupboards and fridge front are fairly well "scuffed" and need attention.  Can anyone shed some light on any remedies that might exist for restoring that lovely Jayco fake timber look. 
Oh and how big is the water tank?
Any help appreciated.

Cant really with cupboard other maybe replace the doors, only ever wipe them down with damp cloth if required and go gently.

Water tanks in 06 model outbacks are claimed to be 90 ltr. later ones were revised to be 82 ltre.

Cant help with scuff marks was wondering is the photo taken outside iga bargara by any chance nice looking jayco.   :police:

Unbelievable, yes it is Baragara.  We retuned today.  Don't miss much do you?  Love the Paj fuel lackofeconomy.

Yes its fine on the outside, needs love on the inside.

Nice van.  You could try wiping down the cupboards with orange oil.  It is good for removing scuffs, it is used by many furniture importers to remove/hide transport marks. 

The front of the fridge is false and can be removed.  You could take it off and have a new piece of dark grey laminate cut for it so it looks similar to the new engel uprights.  If you want it to be the same fake timber panel again you could see your local Jayco dealer about sourcing a piece.

Check what the cupboard facings are actually made of before applying anything too strong. Typically, the fake wood on the walls and doors of budget caravans is paper over mdf or chipboard.
If they are the paper type then don't wet them too much, just use a damp cloth. You can touch up the scuffs with a wax crayon of a similar colour.
If they are real timber maybe lightly sand them back and restain them if they are badly marked, otherwise orange oil or marveer work ok.

How bad is the scuffing?

Every caravan or similar that Ive seen that has timber cupboards use veneer plywood. Its normally a plywood with printed paper on the finish. If your handy simply buy a couple of sheets and replace the fronts, use the old sheet as a templete. The sheets are normally stapled on.
