How to secure and store your trailer
« on: February 19, 2018, 08:14:47 AM »
Hi There,

We have just bought a new house, which is great, other than for the fact there is no space for the camper trailer, other than on the nature reserve by the road at the front of the house.

Can anyone recommend good ways to secure the trailer, so it doesn’t get stolen, or any cheap storage solutions, so we don’t have to leave it out the front?

Any suggestions would be appreciated 👍

Cover, wheel clamp and a tie all lock.

There are a couple of YouTube videos posted (I believe) by a fellow swagger on this topic. This one shows you why you need to buy a decent wheel clamp (not a crappy Trojan like i did): https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=iIIAU5dF4_M. This one shows you why it’s important to lock up your chains when you put on a towball clamp: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9tbSzWkY1s.

Not that I want to cause yoi undue concern, but you might also consider securing your cover. The brand-new Adco cover I got for my Jayco camper got swiped within two weeks, so I replaced it and now secured it with a steel cable that runs over the top. Not that it’s theft-proof but acts as a helpful deterrent.

Of course the measures you need to go to depend on the area you live in ... I’m in inner west Sydney which is a pretty high-crime area, you might be fine.

Good luck :)

Plenty of threads on this

Where are you located.. Theres a camper storage place down Geelong way $1 a day from memory.

Theres no way I'd store a trailer out front, no matter how you secure it, chances are it will go.

He hasn't been on since April last year and very unlikely to be back on here..

Give me a yell if you need his number.
