Hi Al
I am looking for information / regulations on mounting a Shurflo 12v pump in the space behind the wheel arch on a camper trailer, the problem is that there is a gas bottle in the same space which is used for the kitchen . I will have to find out for sure but l think the pumps are a brushless unit.
What l want to find out is:
What are the regulations as far as mounting pumps / switches near gas bottles?
Can l mount the pump and switch alongside the gas bottle in the same space? , given that the pump motors are a fully sealed unit and the switch will be mounted in a junction box and there is no door on the trailer covering the space.
Can anyone help me out with this one.

Pretty sure anything in an LPG locker is not allowed, even just using it for storage. The locker is supposed to be vented and signed as well.
AS5601.2-2010 I am pretty sure is the relevant standard to look at though.

I believe you can store things in the LPG stowage as long as it is still ventilated when used. We use ours to store firewood etc.
If you couldn't all Mountain Trail Campers and others would be in trouble. :cheers:

You may well be right, I have read somewhere that you are not supposed to, but it wasn't the standard so may well be incorrect. Jayco Swans etc all seem to have them in the boot with other things. I'll try to find the relevant bit of the standard later.

Here is the relevant bit as far as I can tell, looks pretty clear to me. The most up to date Australian Standard is AS/NZS 5601.2:2013
I think the previous (2010) standard differed in regards to this aspect

The OP doesn't specify if the gas bottle is in an enclosed area . If it sits on the space in between the wheel arch and tail gate in the open as a lot of the box trailer/ soft floor campers have, it may not be a problem.

Thats how i read it, wouldn't be an issue i don't think.

Yep, if it's not enclosed it's not an issue as far as I know if it is then its a no.

Thanks all for the feed back , it is greatly appreciated.
Just to clarify the gas bottle area is not enclosed , it will be mounted on an older model Modcon the ones they built before they enclosed all the compartments.
