Today in the local rag, Northern Star, shoved in between the pages outlining the horrific truck crash that happen just on New Years Eve, was an article stating that the management rights of the Silver Sands Park has been handed back to th State Government of NSW. The local Richmand Valley council has opted out to the Crown Land management agreement and has handed back the responsibility of full management to the NSW State Government and the relevant government department of Lands and Resources.

Well, it now the begining of the end of the cheap CT holidays at Evans Head...over the next 8 years things are going to change for the worst with those who camp with their CT at the Silver Sands Park Evans Head....a great pitty.

  • I'll drink to that.
This will be the start of many, helped by the big park chains.

There's stacks that have been handed over already, unfortunately.

Caravan parks will soon be for the rich. It's often cheaper to rent a house for a fortnight (etc) now, it doesn't have the same atmosphere that a caravan park does but it's a lot safer for boats and gear.

There is another thread about this some where.  This however, is being driven by Govt the want the parks to make more money and refusal to change practice will result in the Govt taking back the management rights.

The four parks in Port Stephens are currently changing the way the operate and at this stage the biggest losers are people with on site vans..

What a shame, Silver Sands was a great park and a favourite of ours for many years.
