Pill Testing?
Why is it the Goverments responsibility to set up pill testing stations at music festivals?
They are going to take the mystery Shit anyway, so if it saves a few stoners, its not a bad thing... but is the testing 100% accurate being tested for few minutes?

Apparently it’s accurate enough to be able to tell them if it mixed with a deadly dose of fentanyl. This seems to be the substitute drug that people are overdosing on.
I’m sure as my kids approach being young adults that they will think that they know far more than I possibly could and will almost certainly sample some sort of drugs. I think that personally I would prefer that they would be able to tell if the drug that they bought was likely to make them overdose.
I would rather they don’t, but that doesn’t mean I should stick my head in the sand and pretend that they will not get the opportunity offered to them.

Preamptive text,
Why does it what to change 'infront' to infrastructure?
Like really, that's not even close.

Infront should be 2 words, in front.

Predictive text says you are misspelling and is trying to offer alternatives.

I know it is two words, however what It thinks I mean is far from what it suggests.

Hi,
But it doesn't know that you know it is two words. The missing space tricked it.

Hi,
Yep, just behind the 1d scales on the front porch of the Hobart GPO. About 1962 I think, so the prices were still in pennies.

Who decides your now living in a flood zone... ??? Good luck for insurance companies to triple your premiums... if you can get any at all.

"Interesting that in the 22 years we have lived in our home and the 43 years my neighbour has lived in his, we have never seen a flood on the property," he wrote.
"But now, as of the 26th October, we are now potentially flood prone."

Our postcode is NSW 2460,
32 Villages in the Clarence Valley share this postcode with Grafton.
Many have no crime, never flooded or even come close, but we all pay a much higher insurance because of Graftons crime & flooding.
I have written to different political premiers over the years, as well Federal members, both have said that it is AusPost's responsibility.
Auspost reply with it is too complicated to change.
WTF.

I have spoken with friends in Lismore who know people who have been paid out for the flood damage,  yet their neighbours across the street have been refused by the same insurance company, because it's Storm Damage.

I don't get it.
And Super Funds invest heavily in Insurance Companies.
It doesn't make any sense.

Postcodes exist purely for the purpose of sorting & delivering mail. Some postcodes span many thousands of sq KM's in rural Aus, it's purely dependant on population density and where those areas have their mail serviced from. I'd suggest that you could be writing to the insurance companies and other agencies that are too lazy to break down their research into locality name and have simply piggybacked of the postcode network.

Hi Spade,
I have contacted our insurance company, and changed insurances a few times, until we get them to site visit, it's the same each time, postcode dictates policy premiums.
There are properties in our village that are in flood and do have water through their properties most floods.
It takes months for a site visit, in that time we still have to pay the premium, and there is no refund when they do decide it's not right.

One year after 2 months of rain and overcast sky's, which resulted in a minor flood. NRMA, Our premiums were raised, when questioned.
"Your block is flood prone, the grass is dead, Google earth shows that water has been over you block"
It took four months for a site visit.
We changed insurance mobs not long after that, and were not questioned about flood water, until the next flood and we went through it again.

I don't know, it shouldn't be this hard.

Hi,
    My theory.

Scrap all forms of riverine insurance

Make it a wager that water will reach an agreed level on the structure in question with a negotiated $ value and odds calculated by the bookie.

Simples.

Cheers

And we have councils still approving subdivisions on flood plans. :(
One just passed by Clarence Valley Council, as been approved for 4.5 Meters of fill, this subdivision is a vacant area within residential that is already in a flood zone.
I have questioned 3 councilours over this, stating you have created an island, where people will not be able to access services(supermarkets), their response was, That's what the SES is for, to help people.
It's bloody cost shifting, that's what it is and we all pay.

Hi, I stayed on a property at Walget, yep on a flood plain, but the homestead area was bermed to about 4m. To go to work the dinghy was launched over the berm to get to town.
It can be done, but should not be encouraged.

35 odd years, If my memory
Is good.
The flood Plains around Coraki, which suffered terribly a couple of years ago, a Northern Star article at the time reported the local council was not approving levies around Homesteads, stating it pushed water higher at unprotected properties.
Now that was 35 years ago, I have no idea if it is still a policy of that council still.
Knowing councils, it wouldn't surprise me if it was still in acted.

Hi, some locals on the banks of the Maribonong R had greater flooding issues once the Flemington Race Track built themselves a cement dyke and stayed dry at the cost to others from their diverted flood.
Now who in that area could afford to sue such an entity?

There was discussion here a few years ago, of a new housing development proposed to go in on the flood plain. The actual plan put forward was that the ground floor of each building was to be basically open, empty, space, to let the possible 2m of water flow through ::), & that each building would have a "lifeboat" installed, so that the occupants could get to higher ground when needed! :o ::) :-X

Hi, similar idea to the early Queenslanders, on posts, with the laundry in a small central core.
Good until DIY Dad builds in extra bed and living rooms.

I travelled through Woodburn, not long after the flooding of Lismore, the force of the water demolished everything underneath the houses that were built on stilts/metal poles, pushing block walls over.
Some of the houses are still vacant :(

Insurance companies use post codes to determine flood risks here too. However, UK post codes identify individual streets, or parts of a street.
