Hi Guys and Girls
Just a quick thanks to everyone for all the info prior to us leaving Brisbane to Wooli during the floods, hopfully i wasn't to much of a pain. We ended up detouring through Casino and made it Wooli with no dramas, just a short drive through some flood water on the Wooli rd but that was it.
Wooli itself was absolutely stunning as was the solitary island resort, it had some of the bigest sites I have ever seen, we have allready booked for Sep and next Jan.

Thought you would get there. Working on the roads I think it was amazingly over dramatised. Road was blocked at the Bruxner Hwy for way longer than it need be. Problem is councils wont let heavy vehicles travel on their roads so RTA is forced to shut routes down onto their assets. Will happen over and over untill the Pacific Hwy is fully upgraded between Sydney and Brisbane in 2016 (date supplied by politicians not me!)..............

Fantastic and sooo glad you enjoyed it! Did you go up to Minnie and Diggers and have a look around there too? Its a great part of the world thats for sure.

:worthles: Can,t agree more the drive from Minni Waters up the beach to Sandon River fishing village is worth a look some well known fishing I.D,s have weekenders there from what I was told great spot you can see why.TINKERA.

I hope you had a Pizza at the pub, which is next door to the resort, very nice...beers pretty good too.
Then there is the Adults Bar above the outdoor kitchen, no kids allowed, just the place to get away and look at the wide screen TV sports and suck on a stubby or too, whilst the kids are being kids.
I hope the river was getting better after the floods, last time we were there we saw a turtle near the boat ramp...
The resort and Wooli is a bloody nice place, next time I will try Diggers near Minnie Waters, I've heard some good reports about it.

glad you enjoyed your trip to Wooli. The whole chunk of coastline from Yamba to Coffs is all pretty good, not too developed, not "flash " enough for most, just about right for Swaggers ;D. Catch up when you come back, you know you want to visit again..... :cheers:

Once again thanks to everyone for all the info. Yes I did manage to get to Minnie and Diggers, very impressive coastline and so underdeveloped, reminded me of my holidays in the early 90s to Straddie and Moreton Island. I also hope to get to explore Sandon in Sept, I hear that is also quite nice.

A couple of friends of ours mentioned the Nymboida Canoe Park (http://www.nymboidacanoecentre.com/goocampi.htm) as a good/fun place to camp. I was going to check it out, I was wondering if you have seen it or heard anything good or bad about the place.

Thought I might tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one.
Decided to head down to Wooli for the first week of the Easter school holidays. Drive down Friday and return on Good Friday seven nights.

Camping with Sam and our 2 kids, 4 and 6 yo.
Wooli looks like a great part of the Northern Rivers area. This is fast becoming our favourite area to get away. Been to Yaamba and Woody Head and have toured down to Brooms Head.
Saw the Solitary Island Resort website, place looks good but we wanted to be nearer the beach.
Can anyone give any feedback on the Wooli Camping and Caravan Park?

Shhh the reason it is underdeveloped is that we keep it to ourselves. Don't tell everyone.
Sandon, Hmmm down the Sandon rd from Brooms head the there is a sign, Bosches water hole. This road/track will take you through to the Grafton-Wooli rd through the Candole State Forest.
Unfortunatley We wont be here then, we are heading to the Swaggers gathering (http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=5613.0l)at Jamestown SA.
30th Sept - 4th Oct and will be leaving on or about the 16th of sept, otherwise we'd show you guy through there. It's BullFrogs backyard LOL. Hemi & flemo also have had a few runs through there.

Stayed there and it is a good park.

Watch these locals the ones giving short cuts I took one along the Sandon Rd hung a left up over the dunes before a right hander on Sandon Rd turned into a mini Gunshot onto to the beach.This was just after QLD rapped up the State of Origin he hee anyway loved it. Had some fun getting back up after one of your local boys in a troopy had half a dozen goes.TINKERA.
