The 500km three-day event from 26-28 February will add a new element to the history of Mount Panorama and will see new faces battling it out to become the inaugural race winner in 2021.

What a great way to start the year.

Theres plenty to look forward to seeing in the driver shuffles this year and one or two to play out yet.

However, what I am really looking forward to is the next gen cars coming out in 2022 and seeing what they do there, hopefully they get it right this time.

Yep it is pretty average that Supercar Car of the Future is that far behind the times current vehicles can't fit into the chassis.   Would have been interesting to see the Camaro's running around this year, now we have to wait two more years.   That's how you keep your fans.

Nah, Bathurst should be a stand alone , once a year race.

And the traditional 1000k endurance race will be just that.

The first weekend at Bathurst is to fill the void left from the 12 hour (killed by covid)- https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/10/19/bathurst-12-hour-called-off-for-2021/.
I suspect the first event will be 500k over 3 sprint races of about 25 laps each (like the Gold Coast 600 is). Eventually supercars will have a sprint round in the calendar at Bathurst, but on the new circuit being built on the other side of the hill.

No Sandown………...
No Phillip Island...………

What a FN joke. 2 tracks that bring in the biggest crowds bar the proper Bathurst (a sprint round WTF are they thinking!!) and the AGP (which used to be a non points round).

Aimed purely at the couch potato that pay to watch...………...no free to air.

Lost me (well, they lost me years ago when you had to pay to watch and the bullShit rules).

This sadly is how all sport is going.
They make so many sports (footy, cricket, etc) that good to watch on tele, why would you bother going. 3000 camera angles, replays, the only let down with most is rambling commentators but you can decipher whats going on...

The Bathurst 1000 is a sprint race.....no such thing as an endurance race anymore !
The 2nd best race track in Australia ( Phillip Island ) misses out ?

Drag racing has suffered a similar fate.

Too much money, trying to streamline the show, run 'em through as fast as ya can.
8 car fields when they could run 16 car fields.

Funny thing is, the Drag Challenge style of laid back racing, seems to be hitting a nerve.
All of a sudden, you have XW Falcons, HQ Monaros, Commodore wagons and host of other stuff, running in the 7 second zone.
Tons of cars running 8's, 9's are a doodle and 10 second cars, whilst still fast, are the 12 and 13 second cars form the 90's.

Very few new race cars being built now, to get one day of fun, 10 times a year.
Lots of tough streeters coming on, racing 4 or 5 times a year, and for many, still doing 5 or 10,000klm in the year as well.

I have no idea, why the general public can see it like a big ol pus filled boil on ya arse.
The powers to be...... can't see past their nose.

So what the hell is going on with the commentary team for next year????

4 days ago they announced that Mark Larkham wont be back - https://www.supercars.com/news/championship/larkham-confirms-departure-from-supercars-broadcast-team/ which is a real shame. Interesting comment made by SpeedCafe was
Quote
" It is believed that part of the reasoning for Larkham’s axing was that Supercars management wanted to ‘dumb down’ the telecast and make it less technical moving forward"
, which seems a confusing move from supercars as he did a great job of explaining technical crap to to the average viewer? Realy hope that doesnt translate to the noddy doll getting more air time  ::)

And then there was this report "The position of lead commentator Neil Crompton is also understood to be under review". Looks like the fans are blowing up https://wwos.nine.com.au/motorsport/supercars-mark-larkham-blown-away-by-reaction-to-axing-from-tv-broadcast/598984bd-6596-4f2d-b536-defefcd939cd and now it looks like a slim chance of a backflip? https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/12/15/supercars-set-for-mark-larkham-backflip/

Talk about the "silly" season  ::)

And now there is a rumour that Mark Barretta from the sunrise morning show will become the face of the supercars telecast............ what-tha???????
I guess thats well in line with their plan to dumb down the telecast  ???

here's a link for any fans that want to speak up - http://chng.it/DdbGP4VHLm

And apparently noddy doll is also unemployed - https://au.motorsport.com/v8supercars/news/crehan-overwhelmed-reaction-tv-exit/4923850/

Quote
AUTO ACTION understands that Robinson is being brought on board to appeal to a younger, wider audience.
https://autoaction.com.au/2020/10/31/kids-show-star-for-supercars-tv

I recon the'll succeed in their goal to dumb down the coverage ::) :o ::)

With Mark Barretta possibly being joined by Abbey Way (channel 7 presenter from House Rules)

Spose it doesn't help that Chanel 7 boss is ex supercars boss James Warburton, which explains all the cahnnel 7 celebs getting the key gig's

From the Auto Action article -
Quote
Jess Yates will become the host of all broadcasts, backed by Mark Skaife and Craig Lowndes.
They are secure because they are retained by Fox Sports, which has demanded Skaife continue against some resistance within Supercars.
Seven celebrity Mark Beretta, a motorsport fan, will be part of the cross-network team, most likely reporting from the pit lane.
The full commentary line-up is still being debated.
Supercars executives are pushing for a less technical call, with Neil Crompton and Mark Larkham under threat.
Crompton is ‘The Voice Of V8s’, backed by more than three decades as a commentator with top-level racing experience, while fellow ex-racer Larko is popular for his amusing and informative analysis.
According to our broadcast industry sources, neither has a confirmed deal for next year and beyond.

Dark clouds over Erebus.
Anton gone.
Lead engineers for both cars gone.

Now Reynolds exit confirmed. One year into a 10 year contract.

https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/12/16/erebus-motorsport-confirms-departure-of-reynolds/

Strong mail is Penrite are following Davey to Kelly Bro's.

Might be time for the vocal team manager to tone it down a little.

Probably a little too late to tone it down. But the good thing about being humans is we have the ability to evaluate ourselves and make changes, I am sure he has had to do exactly that. Although he maybe the type of person that doesn't have this in him. Betty backs him all the way apparently. She may not be a lot better?

Dave may live to regret his decision though. If things don't work out in a year or two with his new team (kellys?) then he will be almost certainly looking for employment and will look back and think Betty gave him virtually a golden road for the rest of his life in terms of needing money.

You'd hope he hasn't taken the desicion lightly, but if the rumours are true about his wife being no longer welcome in the pit garage.
Money aside his next 9 years of work and home life would difficult.

Given Penrite are apparently backing the move, probably gives him confidence.
