Hi from Perth Hills
« on: July 14, 2011, 04:28:50 PM »
Hi everyone,

Have been reading this amazing forum for the past year or so and and the info I got was so useful when ordering our new Jayco Outback Penguin in March. For some reason Jayco seem reluctant to give customers a comprehensive list of options and if it hadn't been for MySwag I would have missed out on useful options bigtime! We are not complete beginners, having owned an Outback Finch for 8 years and undertaken a great trip driving across the Great Central Road to Alice, then on to Queensland, up the coast to Cooktown, then along the Savannah Way to NT, finally completing the 17000 km loop via the Gibb RR and back to Perth. We have a shortie 2007 Pajero (unmodified except for Polyair bags fitted last month ready to handle the 167 kg ball weight our Penguin has). The shortie is too small for most but suits the two of us fine and is a great towing vehicle - 250 kgs lighter than the wagon. Am about to order a Stone Stomper - reviews seem pretty favourable and we're keen to avoid all the shrapnel which hit the front of our Finch on our recent trip!

Collected our new camper last week and have posted a few comments in the General section, responding to a post about Jayco quality control. No doubt I will have lots of queries which you experienced guys seem only too happy to answer!

Yep, like all the others, welcome Safari1

I'm camping (tent) just behind the hills (Mt Dale area) this weekend with the Venturers.

Cheers Mike

Thanks for all the good wishes guys. Black Diamond I may pick your brains about axle upgrades and Burnsy, we have a black shorty Paj. We live in Maida Vale (not far from Sixways BP), so strictly speaking we are Foothills rather than Hills.
I'm TRYING to upload photos but so far without success- maybe having a Mac is complicating the issue.

Here's a little help for you mate.  Hope you don't mind.

This was how the code looked to get the photo up, however the "{" bracket at the start of the code was replaced with a "[" bracket.

What happened to your other introduction thread?  Maybe a mod can merge the two together?

Is sixways the BP that has just been redone?  Never heard of it being referred to as that, spent many hours during my youth churning laps up and down the pool across the road from it.
