Here is a list of spares to carry as a guide for the Kimberley trip:
Vehicle:
Spare Belts
Spare hoses
Spare fuses
Spare fuel filter
Spare air filter
Spare wheel nuts
Snatch strap and shackles
Air compressor
Good quality tyre plug kit
Top roadside assistance
80 channel UHF radio
Quality first aid kit
Motor Oil
Brake fluid
Power steering fluid
Good set of wiper blades
Basic tools
Camper / Van / Hybrid:
Spare hitch pin
Spare set bearings, bearing grease, split pins etc
Spare wheel nuts
Naturally there would be restrictions on what people can carry due to weight / space available.
We carry an extensive set of gear since being on the road for over 2 years and have the following:
Every range of fusses that the cruiser has
Onboard air compressor
UHF radio
2 x socket sets
A range of tools
2 x jacks
Tyre repair kit
Spare wheel nuts for car
Rechargeable drill plus accessories
Jumper leads
Rope
Fencing wire
Long handle shovel
Battery charger
Plus a lot more
Naturally you would not need to carry what we do as it does take up some room.

It's easy to go nuts, but here are a few other things....
Spare wheel studs for the car
Spare wheel studs for the camper
Spare shock absorber rubbers (especially for the trailer, if it has shockers)
Spare trailer bearing caps
An assortment of nuts and bolts (especially if you own a Land Cruiser.... ;D)
A crow bar (yes, I'm thinking of you here yogi.... ;D)
A couple of good, heavy ratchet straps

Also, pre-grease the wheel bearings... It's so much easier to do it in the shed at home

Just rip the shockie out if it really comes to it (unless it is a front strut and the bush needs to be mechanically pressed these days. As well as shock absorbers cars and trailers have these amazing things called springs that while handling will suffer in a pinch you can run on the springs by themselves if you have to

Why rip the shock out if you can just put new bushes in? They take up minimal space and weight! Stuck in the middle of the canning stock route without a shock because you didn't pack bushes would really suck😊

That'd be OK for a leaf spring setup, but I wouldn't rush into doing it with coils.
In a lot of coil setups, the shocker does more than just damping....

As said previously, a set of good, heavy duty ratchet straps and rope.
I once snapped a shock and completely sheared the ubolts off one of the leaf packs on my old Hilux. With rope/ratchet straps was able to secure the diff enough to get me out of the bush and home (albeit very slowly).
Also, get creative. I once snapped my gear shifter off at the base in the middle of the bush. 10mm socket, a couple of extensions and a hammer was enough to belt the socket over the broken shifter, and the extensions served as a new shifter.
Was an interesting drive through the Black Spur, but I got home.

Depending on the wet season the water crossings will vary. I will have a car bra for people to use if needed.

Welding rods and GOOD jumper leads! Had to once weld a leaf spring back together that had snapped clean in half, half way along the canning, drove all the way to Newman no worries for a replacement set of leaves.
Pretty ordinary for a set of new leaves fitted just before the trip.

If your vehicle has a cabin air filter for the aircon grab a spare one as well or you will taste dust all the way home

Maybe get a list of vehicles participating and get together and share the load by sharing spares. Not everyone needs to carry brake fluid or a welding kit for example. Just watch that someone doesn't sit back unprepared and expect others to get them out of the poo but done right everyone can benefit.
