Title: Pender Bay Campground
Post by: McGirr01 on March 06, 2017, 06:30:23 PM
I have been doing some homework on Cape Leveque and quit like this spot to add to the itinerary.

It's only a short drive from Middle Lagoon. There has been some good feedback on WikiCamps.

Keen to stay a few nights.

An email reply from them.

'Dear Mark,
Thanks for your enquiry.
We certainly have the landscape and physical area available for such a
convoy.
I can understand your need for forward planning for such a group.

During august one can see humpback whales from every campsite we have
available , we have a boatramp , hot showers and flushing toilets.
As of yet we have no fixed bookings for 2018. It was only last year that we opened our location to the general public.
We have hosted numbers exceeding 92 for a 3 day science based event so we can easily tend to your needs for 14 cars.

You are welcome to explore this possibility further. We have not fixed rates for 2018 however the current rate is $15 per adult per night.

Yours sincerely
Management Pender Bay Escape.'

Thoughts please.

Mark

The photos on Wiki camps look incredible, most reviews rate it 'do not miss'.

Been there and it is well worth the visit

Only issue we had was a lot of rent a 4wd tourists from Broome go up there and the road is absolutely corrugated to the max due to no one letting their tires down.

Offroad camper trailers need only apply the road is not that difficult but the corrugations are insane, but like all roads you could go in behind the grader and it may be like a hwy in 2018

Looks like a web page set up by someone with a massive chip on the shoulder and axe to grind, but it's on the internet so it all must be true eh?

And thanks for using your very first post to alert us all ....

A very quick bit of digging and it looks to me like that and the associated websites it links to have been set up by one person, who gives their name as "Sarah Devonport" on one of the linked sites, a quick google of the name comes up with this http://www.sarah-devonport.com/ (http://www.sarah-devonport.com/) not drawing any conclusions, just putting it out there.

edit, there appears to be enough info to link the two, like the following

Quote
Even after being removed, Sarah Jane Devonport continued to harass the WWOOF host with abusive text messages and phone calls and posting hundreds of negative comments online. This was so bad that the host had to change the name of their business to escape negative publicity and a Violence Restraining Order was served on Sarah Jane Devonport by the Western Australian Police.

We've been up a few times. Yes it gets corrugated, but theres roads a lot worse. Seen a few semi off road vans in there.
Last year we were going in the Middle Lagoon rd, about half way in we came across a Getz reversing out. Took bit of an effort to get past each other.
2 young female back packers up from Broome. The single lane wheel ruts got so deep the car was bellying out, so they had to reverse back.
Listen to your teeth, drive to conditions and have appropriate tyre pressures.
Well worth the trip in. Once its sealed all the way, it will go to sh*t.

Cheers Glen

And post is from a new member, stats say they have been on the forum long enough to make one post. Who knows they might even have something to do with the webpage ???
Just putting it out there.
