Hi everyone
Thought I had better introduce myself before settling in too much. :)
I live in Kalgoorlie W.A, and as you could have guessed, I work in the mining industry and have done so for 16 years. I have a wife and three boys that totally enjoy the outdoors and getting away.
We have a 2012 GIC extreme off-road camping trailer. I know it's not a favourite on here but it's been an alright investment. Two big trips we have taken it on are to Tasmania and up the Western Australian Coast to Coral Bay.
Our current vehicle is a 2010 Holden Captiva LX 7. It's been a good little car for the missus. I have a Toyota 70 series wagon as my work car that we will most likely use on our next adventure. Later this year we are looking to trade the Captiva in for a Prado. My history in cars has usually been high performance V8 Holden's with plenty of modifications. Most of which I have done myself including heads and cam upgrades. Now with the boys and getting a bit older I would prefer to mod a 4WD and get off road!
I look forward to reading the story's on this forum, there looks to be a huge wealth on knowledge on this forum and I'm sure I will learn a few tricks from you fine people.
Cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
I had a 120 series Prado a couple of years back as my work car. Did the usual 2" lift, HID's, dual battery with Redarc solenoid controller. Was a great car and I used it underground!! Took it to a beach east of Esperance for New Years and had a blast! I got bogged twice but who's counting!! BTW, I was towing a huge and heavy trailer. It was sad to see that car go, I was seriously contemplating buying if off the company but they sent it to another site up north.
As for us getting a Prado, my minister of war and finance and I have had countless discussion regarding new or second hand. She wants a new one, so do I but after having so many brand new cars over the years I'd like to find a low mileage, good condition Prado and spend the money we save on "enhancements" ;)
So, watch this space!
Thanks again for the welcome!

Well, I'm very excited now!!!
As I mentioned in my introduction, I wanted to upgrade the old Captiva to a Prado. I'm now awaiting delivery of a 2014 Diesel GXL Auto. :) Picked up one from my local Toyota dealer in Dynamic Blue and asked for a genuine tow ball and ARB steel bull bar to be fitted prior to delivery.
Should have it in my drive way some time next week.
Then the mods will begin!! (slowly..) :)

Congrats, let the wait (albeit it short) begin.
Plus I think you mean towbar?

Did a little re-con today and scouted out a camping spot around 120 kms out of town named Rowles Lagoon. Its a fresh water lagool in what is usually a salt water part of the world. Might have to take the New Prado and CT there some time soon!
:)

I used to work at Bellevue gold Mine in 1990, (no longer there).
I'm certain we camped near Credo Homestead when the Old Girlfriend and I decided to take the 1978 model Kombi to Kalgoolie and not use the main road. It was a great trip.
Few other spots to the north of there that I am trying to remember but just can't.
North of the Bellevue Mine to the east of the main rd is a old heritage shearing shed with an underground house near by, we used to camp there also which was a good spot to get away from the work site.
