So how did ya go Shane?

Drag racing is all about consistency right ? One of my crew guys didn't show, (he also had the tow car), missed first qualifier due to fixing someone else's car, second I blew the tyres off on the start line, third I missed due to someone driving away in the back up tow car, leaving us in the pits with no tow car  ???

Day two, the consistency part. We ran Chicago Shoot Out format.
In all 3 rounds, I......  Was beaten on the light, was just flat out beaten in ET, had the slowest MPH and lost every single round. So as far as consistency goes, I did well  ;D

I did however find the fault with the fuel system that has been haunting us. Oh and I didn't break anything this time.

Shane, sounds like a top event! NOT

But better here than there... Arby and his mates have just shipped a Capri to the USA for Drag Week... it's long way to go to have the trans fail :(

Shane, sounds like a top event! NOT

That was just the car I drove. We had 4 all up from work.
One was one of the quickest in its bracket. Had won 2 rounds with a bye in the third. Then a 0.09c o-ring failed and had to be shut down on the line.
Another had convertor issues in round 2 and then there's the third car with a hole in the top of the piston  :'(  Pisser of a weekend........

Drag week would be a lot of work. I'm too old (worn out) to do that sh!t now. But I still would  ;D

Some good clips on U-Tube of Drag Week 2013.

The guys from Perth in W.A begin to drive off down the wrong side of the highway in the Valiant Charger.
There is a good interview as well, except for the guy in the background scratching his arse at 0.45 into the clip.
He really gets into it too.

Went for a skid the other night. Couldn't get off the start line. First pass was shocking. Left the tyres on the start line and some idiot (me), didn't stick the cover on the shift light, so I couldn't see anything. Was out of it by around 400'.

Second attempt again left the tyres on the start line, turned them all the way until I got out of it just before half track. Really wanted to run it to half track for the increments, but got scared about 30' short. Doesn't look much in the video but the rear tyres were trying to over take the front the whole time. Was a little skatey.

More tuning to do.........

Always loved the drags as a spectator and over the last two years I've begun to race in the All Bike Meets.  Best run so far is 11.9 @ 109mph, not too bad for a piece American Iron.

Cheers
Brett

Nah it wasn't, but a poofteenth of a second later it would have been both.

A LOT of racers have been bitching about the track surface for a couple of months now, but falling on deaf ears. W/bank released a media statement today and "apparantly" their traction compound has been vandalised/tampered with...........

They must think as racers, we're fkn stupid ???

Hey Jeepers i was flicking through some old Dragster mags on the weekend and came across your wedding photo on the start line at Wollowbank. I was actually at that meeting, always loved the pink hotrods too. Might have to scan and upload the pic?

Brett were you at Benaraby for the slamfest this year?

That wedding was 15 years ago now and we're still married. The first dragstrip wedding ever in Australia, so i'm led to believe.

Feel free to post the pics. It'll be nice trip down memeory lane... back when i balls and a spine... marriage...hmmmm.

The wedding itself went really well too..... until i broke a roller lifter in the 34. We had the bits to fix it ok, but we couldn't find all the broked bits and didn't want to risk the engine.
It still ran a 8:15 or thereabouts on 7 cylinders too.

It normally went 7.6 to 7.7 depending on conditions, so one tiny lifter pooping itself sure made a difference.

Thoughts go out to Sue and his family, I for one am very grateful for what he gave to the sport. I doubt we'll ever see another one like him. Willowbank hasn't been the same since he left, but thats just my opinion.
