wireless workout headphones/earbuds
« on: May 09, 2019, 12:51:07 PM »
hi all,

just wondering if anyone uses a set of wireless workout headphones/earbuds?

i have killed another pair of standard corded earbuds and am now looking at purchasing something more robust to combat sweating, etc...

i have my eye on these at the moment:

https://www.plantronics.com/au/en/product/backbeat-fit-2100

would love to hear if anyone has any that they like or don't like...

Howdy
I have Apple air pods
Work great, stay in my head and last 4 hours usually
Good thing with them is that I can use one , then swap if that goes flat or share with my wife. They have a long range too. Can walk all around the house and the yard with the phone inside

the shape of the apple buds (which i believe are the same as the airpods) just don't fit well in my ears...

i prefer ones with the rubber/silicone tip...

i have spoken to other people that love them, though... i wish my ears suited them better...  ;D

I forked our way too much money for this set of Jabra sports ones, had all the bells and whistles.

Sound quality was average, battery life was depressing and after a few weeks they got thrown in the drawer and went back to using wired ear buds.

I’d love to get a good set of wireless headphones (not ear buds), but I have my music on for anywhere up to 10 hours a day most days.
I’m reluctant to fork out more good money on a set of headphones that will need to be plugged in for most of my working day anyway.

I have these and love them:

https://www.jabra.com.au/bluetooth-headsets/jabra-elite-active-65t

Not cheap but they fit really well, can pass through sounds if you want to be aware of your surroundings and cope with a bit of sweat.

I had another type from Jabra and took them back has had problems but this version syncs straight away all the time.

Apparently Beats is bringing out a new model of earbuds in the next month or so. Supposedly similar to Apple Airpods (Apple owns Beats) but more focussed on use while exercising. Only thing missing is active noise cancellation otherwise I would probably upgrade my Airpods for a pair.

I got a set of those Plantronics ones for my wife to use at the gym and when out running.

She also is very fussy with fit to her ears (comfort) and tells me they’re fantastic.

Beats are horrible, overpriced and not in the ballpark for quality compared to Bosé etc.  I had Beats, and they aged terribly during a year of use.  Got some Bosé and 3 years later they look and perform like new.

For wireless compact and affordable the Plantronics are hard to beat.  The Bosé are another level (in cost also).

Headphones.com.au

I went with a pair of corded Etymotic MC5 in 2011, lost them, tried a bunch of others and bought another pair.

I wanted good isolation from surrounding noise so I could listen at a lower volume since I use them for pleasure and want to look after my hearing. They do that very well and sound so good I can't use other 'retail' brand headphones like Bose, Beats, or any of the phone manufacturers.

thread update:

ended up doing a bit of a deep dive into more obscure wireless earbuds...

plenty of different options out there, but one brand that kept coming up was QCY...

ended up getting a set of QCY T2C wireless earbuds... got them on special for $32 delivered...

https://www.gearbest.com/headsets/pp_009262243425.html?wid=1433363

have tried them out a couple of times now... seem to be quite good... sound is balanced and they stay in my ears (for now)...

thought they worth a shot for the price...

thanks all for their input...

I have issues setting earphones to stay in/on my ears, but can’t fault a pair of Cygnett sports wireless earphones and haven’t been able to kill them.

Bonus - on clearance at Harvey Norman: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/cygnett-freerun-wireless-bluetooth-in-ear-headphone.html
