Title: Lightweight Tarp
Post by: Camperman on December 02, 2020, 01:32:07 PM
G'day all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a relatively lightweight tarp that is waterproof and can block the sun, that would be big enough and sturdy enough to cover my camptrailer with while my family and I are away camping please? Have used the silver heavy duty tarps in the past but they are super heavy in weight, and also a bit if a pain to fold and store.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Geoff

Dont know the size your looking to cover ..But the lightest you will most likely get is the plain O'l blue poly type ..only drama will be the Eyelets pulling out .. I Reinforce mine with a couple of layers of Gaffa tape .lapped / wrapped over / around the eyelets ..  The tape is expensive but way better than the stuff from Bunnings https://www.jaycar.com.au/nashua-gaffer-tape-40m-black/p/NM2812 (https://www.jaycar.com.au/nashua-gaffer-tape-40m-black/p/NM2812)
Have used this for many years ..Bad weather / wind, should get a few trips out of a tarp, just redo as needed .

How about this?  I have no experience but did consider it some years ago:

I have two of these and use them on occasion.  They have worked well for what they are but they are not really tarps but as the name says flys.  If you value light weight and compact size over strength then they are good option.

Mobs like Drifta do the Hexa Tarps in various sizes. They are cut the correct way to easily pitch.
