It's summer and January in MEL, how is it a 'surprise scorcher'?
yep, almost guarantee the first 2 to 3 weeks of January will be Hot, Hot, Hot with the hottest day being the men’s tennis finals at the Aus Open.

Yup, I flew in from CBR at 10pm last night and we had to park on the tarmac for 30 mins until the lighting had cleared. Lots of grumpy people on the plane.

Just the usual impatience of people wanting to get off the plane. Relax your luggage probably won't even be at the carousel when you get there.
Like cCruiser said better safe than sorry, not too many second chances with lightning.

A friend had an HF antenna over his house till yesterday arvo.
44 Metres of wire with a Balun in the middle (divider).
Now hes got 22M of wire and the balun.
Lightning hit the antenna and tracked out (to the tree holding it up) and then down the tree.
Blew out a TV and a few plug pack transformers.
Luckily nothing really a problem.
It'll get fixed.

Looks like tonights drama will miss me, but last night had an incredible 57mm, wish that was a tad further north/west and my tanks would have been full again.

So I walk out of my hotel room in Melbourne CBD this morning straight into gail force winds and a dust storm that would make central Australia jealous.
And now it’s raining.

What a lovely place it is down here.... ;)
