new hybrid (?) from Australian Off Road
« on: September 13, 2019, 02:18:45 PM »
I like the look of it...

https://australianoffroad.com.au/sierra/

What do we class it as though?

a "hybrid"?

an "off road teardrop"?

As they roll into the campground after having driven on the nicely graded dirt road.

I like it. Looks like they put practicality above looking good for once, hence the “odd” appearance. Also doesnt appear to have too much wanky stuff just for the hell of it.

No so much concerned with what it looks like, not likely to be able to afford it anyway.
But as a solo traveller I kinda like the concept.
Somewhere to sleep out of the elements would be nice at times.

Looks like half a landrover...................SO it'll cost a wheelbarrow of money, leak it's contents and blackout 3 times a night, not to mention snap its axles at the first hint of off road difficulty and its owners will be nutters......... ;D ;D ;D

I like it, would love to see more of the inside. Its not small though - have a look at it when attached to the fourby.

Anything that encourages people to move away from overloaded apartments on wheels can't be bad.

Will be costly but that's life.

Yep! Seriously, if you need that much cut away on the back, it won't help any situation. You're rooted. What a waste of space!

Looks similar to Conquerer etc, so not something that is completely new concept ?
Don't know whether it involves canvas, but apart from money, I like the idea.
We are still mainly campers who like a full queen bed, hard roof and a fridge for beer, so this style of camper is us......but I couldn't afford one....even though I don't know the price !!

Hunted around and found a brochure that said $42K and buy now to beat the price rise.

As I said I kinda like this concept. For a solo traveller a camper trailer as we know them just seems too much and living out of the wagon with a swag on a stretcher under an awning and having to pull out cooking gear etc and then pack it up does wear thin (well with me) after a few weeks on the road. I know people do it but ...

Its biggish and weighty but if you didn't go mad ticking the options box it could be manageable. I would have no need for a rooftop tent for starters. .

Was just thinking the same gronk re similarities to the conqueror.

I like the fact it's not another square box that looks like everything else.  Good on em for thinking outside the box as little...so to speak ;)
