Advice on a fridge Slide for Engel 40L
« on: December 04, 2012, 08:01:10 PM »
After some advice on a fridge Slide, don't have the time and tools to make my own so need to buy one, wish I didn't 'have to as they are pretty expensive.
Was looking at the ORS for $339
Ironman for $325
Basher for $280
My local 4wd shop stock the Black Widow but its $400.
The Engel looks pretty basic for $320
I don't mind paying for quality. Its pretty had to tell the difference as up here no one really stocks any so I will have to order either online or from a store. There seems to be plenty out there, not paying $600 for the drop down, happy to stand on a step...
Thanks for any advice...
Renno

I thought the ORS one was pretty good, adjustable rollers to reduce rattle, high sides to stop the bag from catching if iirc.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

Highly recommend an ORS slide, based on the 60L Engel sized one that I've got sliding out of the walkway of a Lifestyle Extenda. I originally got an Engel, but found it too heavy and bulky (call it old technology), plus a clunky locking mechanism (vaguely recall it only locked on the closed position, and didn't lock when fully open? but don't quote me..). The ORS also fully extended, whereas the Engel only made it 80-90% of it self extended. Decided it wouldn't suit so we took it back and ordered the ORS sight-unseen and have been very happy with it.

Also consider ordering the "Just Straps" tie-down straps from ORS, they're excellent.
