Sydney 4WD and Camping Show- Where Was Everyone?
« on: October 16, 2015, 06:40:27 PM »
Took the minister of War & Finance to Eastern Creek today for the show and man was it empty. Hardly any customers at all  ??? I don't know if it was just because it was a Friday or because it got a bit warm in the afternoon or what, but where ever you looked the sales staff were mainly talking to each other or standing around with bugger all to do.

One retailer told the missus that it was the quietest Friday they had experienced in over 5 years at any show! On the plus side there was no crowds to battle thru, no queues for anything and I got to chat to Roothy (and get a photo  ;D) and Jason from All for Adventure.

There also seemed to be a lot less exhibitors too, so I hope they get a lot more attendees over the weekend or things might look a bit grim for future shows.

I was there yes it was quiet. But I liked that you could have a good look at the campers and other stuff. I recon it will be busy over the weekend.

I was there. Had a nice chat with Scoot and BigJules and oldmate Vic Widman.  Came home with some cheapie maxtrax ripoffs, a Korr lightstrip, and some cheap Velcro strips.

It was hot.  And the new Tufftrucks track was different.  I kept waiting for one to rollover, but they  didn't. Would not like to be on that track in our shortie. :-*

Unless you specifically want something the show is really no different to what it was 4 years ago. Dont get me wrong I love the idea and fully support the industry but i think it has gone a bit stale
I also think that people now see through "show specials"

That's the perfect description H10, as it did have a stale feel about it  :'(  Hopefully the organizers can do something to liven it up a bit  for the shows future!

Did you still have to walk up that bloody long hill just to get in?

Im away in Ballina at the moment or I would have gone.
It would have to have been better than the boat show and Mingara camping show neither of which were what Id call great.

Once they used to try and make it interesting, lots of displays and stuff, now its all same ol same ol
Too easy to get people to pay for nothing much.

What with the cost of entry and a lot of the 4WD clubs did not bother this year either as the size of the sites were reduced quite a bit from previous years. Also if you were intending to man one of the stands and expecting an exhibitor pass then you also had to donate 2 hours per day to the association to do their work, per person, to get the free entry ticket.
This gun to the head attitude did not go down well with a lot of the clubs.

They did have a shuttle bus going and Yes, it really was paying for nothing too exciting.
