Well you have a tray back pop top on a landrover 110 variant.

Its not for checking the oil in the landy is it? ;D >:D

Is it for locking the ladder into the camper in place properly?

Is it for pinning something in place?  Eg: to stop a door swinging in the breeze OR hold a door against (say) the kitchen.

 its for a landrover cruise control hook one end on the pedal the other on the seat adjuster  ;D

Stops the roof of your camper coming crashing down and locking you inside when it gets windy, and the gas struts fail. :)
Awesome looking camper by the way I haven't seen one of those before.

Hooks onto Land Rover dash and gear stick to stop said Land rover jumping out of top gear,big improvement over forked stick cut from the bush

I was thinking the roof also initially, but maybe it's to hold the awning a little closer into the camper so the wind doesn't flap it all night...

Hi, well done, and here I was thinking it was so obscure it should last a week or so.


Yes, fully extended the awning catches the wind. The manufactures supply two bracing rods from the awning to the base of the camper, and reckon it is good for very strong wind conditions.
However after a night of Southerly busters at Cockle Creek some time ago, I'm very happy with my modification.
Reducing the 'sail' area by half, and the leverage by half seems to do the trick and I feel it is better to avoid rather than absorb the wind energy.



This is where it fits



Flip the strap to one side



The door opens just enough, and rests on an existing bump stop
